Greatest Summer Festival Ever!

Jun 28, 2018 | Village News

This year’s Wisborough Green Primary School Summer Festival was surely one to remember, if not the greatest ever! I am not being boastful when I use these words, but referring to the extra special ingredient that we were lucky enough to enjoy – the presence of Cirque Normandie and their incredible Circus for Schools programme.

Celebrating not only 250 years of British circus, but also this term’s school topic, this year’s Summer Festival included a week long programme of activity. It kicked off with an official blessing of the Big Top by the Reverend Clive Jenkins (pictured right), free circus skills workshops for all of the children, not only from Wisborough Green School, but also Plaistow and Ifold Primary School and Climbing Bears and then culminated in four fantastic performances by Cirque Normandie including hilarious clowns, breath taking acrobats, incredible jugglers and awe inspiring aerialists.

But most of all we enjoyed the presence of a very special group of people – the stuff that inspires and makes dreams, and for that we cannot thank Cirque Normandie enough.  To Tolly, Nina, Ed and your entire amazing crew, we say a whole hearted thank you for this unique experience.  We hope you enjoyed your experience on home turf and we hope to see you again very soon.  We also thank you for this opportunity to add to our fundraising efforts through your generous donation from ticket sales, and hope that your Circus for Schools programme continues to inspire a new generation of performers.

Festival day itself was generously supported by so many local businesses and the local community in general. The children of Wisborough Green Primary School and their somewhat exhausted PTA would like to say a very big thank you to you too.  We hope you enjoyed the day and we would like to say a particular thank you to Churchill Equestrian Properties for sponsoring the occasion. We’ll report back with our fundraising total and plans for spending it very soon.  Meantime here are a few pictures of the week.
