Neighbourhood Watch Update 2010
9 July - Telephone/computer scam operating
A gentleman apparently calling from On Line PC Care to help with any computer trouble being experienced. Wanted the computer to be logged on and he would remove any difficulties. It transpires that the company is bogus and the caller would have been able to obtain passwords and other personal information. Take care.

An alarm company recently contacted a couple in East sussex and persuaded
them into making an appointment to visit and fit an alarm that they said would
only cost 99p they also asked the age of the persons at the house. By the time
the appointment was over the company had managed to fit the alarm and also get
a cheque for £3,000 for a three year maintenance fee.Luckily the householders
daughter found out and got her father to cancel the cheque, also contacting
the company to remove the alarm. Clearly the message is "Do Not deal with
any companies who contact you by telephone"
If you require work to be done contact a local reputable company, or Trading standards who have a list of vetted companies.
