Village Hall News

At time of writing, we are still awaiting the planning decision. The statutory notice period is about to expire and, thus far, no further objections have been raised in relation to our plans. We are therefore hopeful that we shall soon receive the green light!  Now will come the difficult bit. Delivering the project for the community.  In anticipation, the core project team met recently to discuss how to proceed once we do receive planning consent.

The most important decision that the team has taken is that we shall tackle the project in phases so that we can keep the hall in operation, with somewhat reduced facilities, for most of the implementation period. This will minimise the period when we have to close the hall completely as well as providing much needed time and space to secure the best possible outcome for each phase and more time to obtain the additional funding that we need to complete the whole project.

The core project team is small – only 5 people – and there is a lot of work to be done, specifying the non-construction requirements. (Our architect will complete the specification for the construction work.)

This is an unique opportunity to help create an enduring, relevant and modern centre for the community that can be enjoyed by generations to come. If you have any skills or knowledge relevant to any of the following areas or are willing to help in any other way, please contact myself (700502) or Louise Davies (700689) :

  • Interior Design & Materials (soft furnishings/ furniture/ sanitary ware)
  • Energy (power, heating & thermal efficiency)
  • Kitchen/catering design
  • Lighting design
  • Sound system design
  • Technology & Security design
  • Sponsorship opportunities from local (and not so local) businesses

Your time, skills and knowledge will be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully, I will be able to confirm a positive decision from Chichester DC in the next Ad Vincula.
