The United Benefice of
Kirdford, Plaistow and Wisborough Green

The Parochial Church Council of  Kirdford and Plaistow &
The Parochial Church Council of Wisborough Green

We are two neighbouring rural parishes in West Sussex.  Our communities of parishioners are friendly and active.  We already worship and work closely together.  Becoming a unified benefice is a pathway we are following willingly and with joy.

Our two parishes are in the process of becoming a combined benefice.  Our current vicar, the Rev Clive Jenkins, is retiring from Ministry in May 2025.  A new incumbent will be appointed to lead the united benefice.

Both parishes have decided to appoint a part-time Parish Administrator to support the churchwardens during the interregnum and continue to support the new incumbent when she or he is appointed.

The post would best suit an individual who has performed this role already in another parish (and maybe doing so currently), but relevant similar experience from elsewhere in the public or private sectors would be very interesting to us.  The appointee will work from home but live in or near the united benefice and be able to visit frequently.  The role and the job description may be subject to amendment once the new incumbent arrives.

General Duties

You will have overall management of general communication between the benefice, parishioners, the church authorities, and suppliers and contractors, including the management of the general enquiry email and telephone messages. You will maintain files and an electronic calendar for the united benefice, prepare a regular service schedule, production of leaflets, and liaise with the Vicar, Lay Reader, the Churchwardens, and the PCC Treasurers and Secretaries.

Special Services

You will oversee the administration of all baptisms, marriages, and funerals, including administrative liaison with participants and the Churchwardens, preparation and submission of official documentation required by the Vicar, and liaison with the professional services companies engaged by the participants

We anticipate that this will require around 5 hours a week operating on a flexible basis.  You will be self-employed.  The fee will be about £5,000 per annum, reimbursed monthly in arrears.
