The village flagpole is managed by the Parish Council and in accordance with official flag-flying protocols. A village resident has been raising the flags for the village for nearly 50 years and receives national directives from the College of Arms and local policy from the Parish Council.
It is therefore disappointing to report that there has been recent interference with the flagpole, with the UK/Ukrainian friendship flag removed on two occasions, one resulting in damage to the halyard. An unofficial Union Flag was recently raised without the Council’s knowledge or consent. This flag has now been removed and is being held by the Parish Clerk if the owner would like to collect it.
Flags will continue to be raised in accordance with the national directives and for local events. The flag raising dates are included in the Parish magazine (Ad Vincula) each month or on this website.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us maintain a respectful and appropriate use of this important village landmark.
