August Show 2021
After cancellation in 2020 due to COVID restrictions the annual Wisborough Green Horticultural Society show returned on Bank Holiday Monday – albeit in a slightly different format.
Lack of certainty as to government requirements on indoor events at the planning stage for the show resulted in a decision being taken to hold an event in the Village Hall rather than a marquee as in previous years. The entry categories were restricted to vegetables, fruit and flowers to accommodate the smaller venue.
There were over 60 categories with many entries for each category making for an exciting show. The wonderful weather helped make the event a tremendous success with several hundred visitors to view the displays. It was lovely to see such interest in the produce with a large proportion being sold at the auction at the end of the day to help fund the event.
The Top Tray best of show went to Bill Hammond with the other prizes being shared between many of the other entrants. The prestigious RHS judged Best Allotment prize was awarded at the show to Linda Hatcher and Trish Evans.
Due to the success of various plant sales, including a stall at the Farmers Markets, there are insufficient plants to hold the usual Autumn Sale this year.
