Getting Around

Community Minibus Association (West Sussex)

The Community Minibus Association of West Sussex is a charitable service run by volunteers and is organised throughout the County into Divisions, of which Wisborough Green is one.  The village minibus has been successfully serving the residents of Wisborough Green for many years now, by making low-cost trips to destinations such as Horsham, Worthing, Chichester, Guildford, and Cranleigh.

Volunteer Drivers and Escorts ‘man’ the service which now operates a 10-seater Ford Transit bus, funded from a generous bequest to the Association from the late Pat Crighton-Smith.  It runs every Monday and Friday, and occasional Wednesdays. A number of ‘special outings’ are arranged and recent trips of this nature have been to Parham House, Eastbourne, Chichester (for a canal trip), the Christmas fairs at Winchester, Rochester and Chichester, as well as to theatre trips to Guildford.

The schedule of destinations is published each month in ‘Ad Vincula’, the Parish magazine, on the two main Parish Council noticeboards on the Green and on the side of the bus shelter outside The Three Crowns. The West Sussex Community Minibus Association’s website can be found on www.westsussexminibus.org.uk

There is, perhaps, a misconception that the service is only for senior citizens. This is far from so as EVERYONE is welcome. All that is necessary is that passengers join the Association by paying a token annual subscription of £8.00 and then a very modest fare for each trip. Booking is essential and to reserve a place simply telephone Brenda Karn-Smith on 01403 701076.

We pride ourselves that we are able to pick up passengers and drop them off as close to their homes as possible and assistance is always available with carrying shopping bags.

SAFETY BELTS ARE FITTED TO ALL SEATS AND DRIVERS ARE SPECIALLY TESTED.

The Wisborough Green Minibus is also available for use by other groups in the village. It remains part of the Association’s fleet so a number of regulations apply but anyone interested in using it should contact Pat Farmer on 01403 700492 to discuss the details.

Village Car Service

This service was created a number of years ago as part of the pastoral care offered by St Peter ad Vincula to look after those in need in Wisborough Green. The service is purely provided to offer transport help to attend health appointments; doctor or hospital appointments as well as the optician or dentist. The service is not available for shopping trips.

A number of volunteer drivers are registered with the village co-ordinators. If you require transport assistance please telephone the village co-ordinators who will arrange for the driver to contact you directly to confirm the arrangements. There is no charge for the service but donations are invited from passengers as these are ploughed back into the Team’s budget to pay petrol expenses to the volunteer drivers. If you require this service, please contact Suzanne Mosely on 01403 700946.

There is a dedicated team of drivers but new recruits are always needed to cover busy periods. If you are interested in driving for the village please contact Suzanne Mosley on 01403 700946.
