A Christmas Message
Was God, our Father, ever required to undergo a risk assessment?!? He vested so much in a couple of teenagers who gave birth to a vulnerable child, in a stable, away from home and laid in a manger. The angel instructed them to name the child Jesus, for he would “save His people from their sins”. God loves us and can’t bear to see things going on in our lives, through misguided decisions and motives, without offering to help us out. His world-changing plan for this child is that He becomes “a refuge for the oppressed”; brings “justice to the poor” and “saves the children of the needy”. Through this child, God wants to see all of us living to our full potential.
This Christmas, amidst the expense, the gifts and lavish meals, don’t just assign the oppressed, the poor and the needy to ‘those people over there’.
Take a moment, be that in an intimate encounter or at a Christmas Church Service, to examine the impoverished elements within your own life, maybe feeling ‘empty’, ‘hard done by’ or ‘all alone’ in this seemingly corrupt and unjust world and take a… ‘look at this Son’
…and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For absolutely everything… finds its purpose in him… He holds it all together right up to this moment…. From beginning to end, he’s there… So spacious is he, so expansive, that everything of God finds its proper place in him… all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.
