The heavy winter rains are behind us, and for Wisborough Green, that can only mean one thing: the sound of leather on willow is about to return.
It’s been a busy “off-season” in the indoor nets, and the energy across the club is higher than ever. We are particularly proud of our trailblazing Women’s team. In their very first year of hardball cricket, they didn’t just compete—they won the league! They now head to the Championship Finals at Horsham CC on Sunday 3rd May. It would be wonderful to see many supporters there to celebrate this amazing achievement.
Friday nights on the Green remain the heart of our Junior club, with training for our 200+ young cricketers starting on Friday 1st May. From our U5s to our league-winning U14s, the focus is on fun and community.
To keep the village moving smoothly during these busy evenings, please do make use of the extra free parking at Stable Field (next to Barnfield Shaw).
Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer looking for a quintessential village afternoon, our Senior teams (1st Xi, 2nd XI, Women’s Hardball and Softball Teams and the Sunday XI) and Junior teams will be in action every Saturday and Sunday from May 2nd.
Beyond the boundary, we are excited to be involved with progressing plans for the new pavilion in partnership with the Parish Council—stay tuned for more news on that front shortly.
A huge thank you to the committee and volunteers who keep our club running. WGCC is a club for everyone; whether you want to play, coach, or simply help with administration, we would love to hear from you.
